An Invitation to A Tea Party

“Penny you’ve got mail,” said mom.

I never get mail except on my birthday. I wonder who it’s from? It’s an invitation to a Tea Party from Junie, one of my friends at school. This is so cool. I’ve never been to a Tea Party. What should I wear? How should I act? I don’t like tea. Do I have to drink the tea anyway? Moooom, I need help. You can always count on my mom to know what to do. Mom took out my pink short sleeved dress with a bow on each sleeve. my little white socks with lace on the top and my shiny black Mary Jane shoes. And she didn’t forget the cutest pocketbook ever.  It’s a small shoulder strap bag with a picture of a little white dog that looks like Puppy. Mom suggested I put my hair into one ponytail instead of two with a big pink flower from mom’s garden attached to the top of my ponytail. I asked mom if I could paint my fingernails. She said no. I’ll ask her again later. Maybe she’ll say yes. So, after asking mom a million gazillion times she finally said okay. I think I’m ready to go now.

The Tea Party.

There are so many of my friends here. Hi Chloe. Hi Marnie. Hi Abbey. Everyone is so dressed up. Look at all this food. All kinds of sandwiches cut into little tiny squares. Tuna, egg salad, chicken salad and oh this looks good. It’s cream cheese with cucumbers and cinnamon.  Yum, I might have to try that. Oh my gosh look at these desserts. Little vanilla and chocolate mini cupcakes, mini brownies with a spoonful of marshmallow cream on top and pink iced sugar cookies. Let’s see what on this other table. Hot Chocolate with mini marshmallows and lemonade. Yay, no tea. Looks like some of my friends are getting ready to play some type of Tea Party game. Looks like fun. I’ll let you all know.
