I once had a boyfriend. His name was Andy. We met in pre-kindergarten school. One day Andy smiled at me and I smiled back. It was love at first sight. He smiled at me the whole next week. At lunch that week he offered to share his sandwich with me. The next thing I know he is asking me to be his girlfriend. I thought he was kind of cute, so I said YES. We started doing everything together after that. We went to the zoo. To the park. To the movies. To the ice cream store. Sometimes we had dinner at each other’s houses. We were supposed to meet at the park one afternoon, but I told him I would be late because my mom had somewhere to go first. I got to the park and looked around for Andy. My heart suddenly stopped. I was heartbroken. Andy was on the swings with another girl. I knew at that moment that we were over, done, kaput, don’t even want to discuss it. My mom tried to comfort me and told me there would be lots of boyfriends in my future. I knew she was right. After all I was only four years old.
