Detective Parker, The Case of The Missing Chicken

Hi everyone. Yes, it’s me Penny. I suppose you’re wondering what’s

going on. It seems as though there has been a robbery and my family

has asked me to see if I can figure out who the robber is. I am going to

need some help and was hoping you all could be part of my detective

team. Yes. Great, thanks.

It started with my dad’s birthday. He’s 40 today and the whole family

has been invited over to celebrate. All of our family lives close by

except for dad’s parents. They live several hours away, so they came in

last night. Mom ordered fried chicken, potato salad, and a huge

antipasto salad and lots of desserts all from dad’s favorite restaurant

and pizza for us kids. Dad’s mom asked if we could put 2 pieces of the

delicious chicken away for later for her to snack on. So, my mom put

the 2 pieces on a separate plate in the fridge for grandma to snack on

later. We started the party around 1 p.m. By 4 p.m. we were all finished

eating. We sat around watching T.V. and playing board games. My

grandma Betty, that’s dad’s mom, went to take a nap. Around 6 p.m.

coming from the kitchen we hear…WE’VE BEEN ROBBED, WE’VE BEEN

ROBBED. Everyone ran into the kitchen to see what was going on. It

was grandma Betty all upset because someone took her chicken.

Everyone denied taking it. So, we began looking everywhere …under

the sink, in the closets, under the bed. No chicken was found. I looked

to see if there was a possible clue left on the plate. I didn’t see

anything. Oh wait, there are little bits of something pink and shiny. We

have our first clue everyone. Pink and shiny, hmmmm. It looks a lot like

my make-believe nail polish. Oh No! Earlier that day my mom took both

my grandmothers to the beauty salon to have their hair and nails done.

Whoever has on pink nail polish must be the robber. That person must

have gone to eat the chicken and hit their freshly painted nail on the

plate and bits of the polish came off. Oh my gosh, grandma Betty has

on pink nail polish. But why would she say someone took her chicken if

it appears that she was that someone. Here’s what happened. If you

remember grandma went to take a nap around 4 p.m. Her stomach

started growling and at 5 p.m. she went into the kitchen and ate the 2

pieces of chicken mom put aside for her. None of us heard her in the

kitchen. She was still groggy and tired, so she went back to sleep. When

she got up again at 6 p.m. to go have her snack, she was still groggy and

forgot that she had already eaten the 2 pieces of chicken and thought

they had been stolen. Mystery solved. It took a while for grandma to

remember that she ate the chicken earlier. She was so upset about

what had happened. We told her not to worry, sometimes things

happen. Mom brought out the birthday cake and we all sang to dad and

laughed about the whole episode. Thank you everyone. I could not

have solved this mystery without your help.
