The Interview

I am beyond excited today. I have been chosen to be a guest on the David Allen Show. It’s a radio show called a Podcast. I’ve wanted to be on his show forever. Teachers from the local schools send in names of kids who are interested in being on his show and then he randomly picks one student a month. Yay!!! I got picked! I got picked to be on the show. Oh my gosh what if I get nervous and don’t know how to answer his questions. Do you think maybe you all could come with me? That would make me feel so much better. The show starts in 30 minutes.

30 minutes later.

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 and we’re live.   

Hello and welcome to “It’s A Kids World.”

I’m your host David Allen. Today my guest is Miss Penny P. Parker from Sunnydale Elementary School.

David Allen: “Penny, It’s a pleasure to have you on my show today.”

Penny: “Thank you Mr. Allen. I’m excited to be here.”

David Allen: “So, tell me something about yourself.”

Penny: “I’m six years old. I live with my mom, dad, nanny Franny and my dog named Puppy. I love to write, and I am the host of my own blog.”

David Allen: “Wow your own blog at six years old. That’s amazing. I will have to check it out.” 

Penny: “Thank you.”

David Allen: “Penny, I have some callers standing by who can’t wait to talk to you. Are you ready?”

Penny: “Yes sir.”

David Allen: “Courtney is on the phone with a question for you.” 

Courtney: “Penny, what is your favorite subject in school?” 

Penny: “I like lots of subjects, but my very favorite is English, especially the spelling part.” 

David Allen: “We have another caller Penny.”

Rosie: “Hi, Penny what do you do for fun when you’re not in school?”

Penny: “Well, when I’m not on my ipad, I play soccer and I love to ice skate. But my newest favorite thing to do is to play hopscotch. My mom used to play it all the time when she was a kid. Mom taught all my friends in my neighborhood to play. You should try it sometime. It’s lots of fun.”

Rosie: “Do you think I could come over some time and play?

Penny: “Sure, that would be great fun.”

Rosie: “I have another question Penny. what is your favorite food?”

Penny: “My very favorite food is always a hamburger with mustard, ketchup and lots of pickles, French fries and a vanilla milkshake.”

Rosie: “Yum, I like that too.” 

David Allen: “Penny, we only have time for one more caller. His name is Peter.”

Peter: “Hi Penny do you have a boyfriend?”

Penny: “No.”

Peter: “Could I be your boyfriend?”

Penny: “I don’t even know you.”

Peter: “Yes you do. I say hello to you every day at lunch.”

Penny: “Are you that boy with red hair?”

Peter: “Yep, that’s me.”

Penny: “Well I still don’t know you.”

Peter: “Maybe you’d like to go on a date.”

Penny: “A DATE! I’m six years old, I don’t date.”

Peter, “Well maybe I could sit with you at lunch.”

Penny, “Well, um, I don’t know. Oh, ok maybe.”

Peter, “So we have a date.”

Penny, “I don’t think you’re listening, NO DATE!” 

David Allen, “We are running out of time you two.” We might have to have you both back some other time. We have to go now podcast listeners but stay tuned everyone for further developments to see how the date that wasn’t a date turned out.

We are going to try something a little different now. Some of you have asked me if you can send in trivia questions instead of riddles. It might be fun to switch for a while. Let’s give it a try.

My mother makes homemade waffles and freezes them. I take them out and pop them in the toaster and then cover with yummy butter and syrup.

I have oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar every afternoon for my snack.

I think I might have my mom make me some oatmeal with raisins today. It sounds yummy.
